He is best known for his television role as Mitchell Pritchett on the sitcom Modern Family, which ran from 2009 to 2020. For this performance, he received five consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In addition to his television work, Ferguson is a Tony Award winner and has won an Outer Critics Circle Award for his role in Take Me Out.
