Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara is a Colombian and American actress and model born on July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia. Recognized for her extensive work in the entertainment industry, she maintains 80 known credits in acting. Vergara achieved significant financial success in the television industry, holding the title of the highest-paid actress in American television for eight consecutive years between 2013 and 2020. Her professional identity is defined by her transition from Spanish-language broadcasting to prominent roles in American film and television productions. She is also known by the name Sofia Verga.

Vergara began her career in the late 1990s, gaining initial prominence as a co-host for two television programs on the Spanish-language network Univision. She successfully transitioned into English-language acting with her first notable role in the 2003 film Chasing Papi. Following this, she appeared in the 2005 film Four Brothers and continued her work in the comedy genre with roles in Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns in 2008 and Madea Goes to Jail in 2009.
