Dancing with the Stars is a television competition series that premiered on ABC on June 1, 2005. The program features celebrities who are paired with professional ballroom dancers to perform choreographed routines. These performances are evaluated by a panel of ballroom experts and are subject to votes cast by viewers. Throughout the competition, the participants engage in weekly elimination rounds as they strive to win the Mirrorball Trophy. The first season of the series featured six celebrity contestants paired with six professional dancers. Tom Bergeron and Lisa Canning served as the hosts for the inaugural season. The panel of judges consisted of Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli. The series showcases a variety of dance styles, including the salsa and the samba. The premiere of the first season drew over 13 million viewers.
