Sarah Jane Hyland, born November 24, 1990, in Manhattan, New York City, is an American actress. She attended the Professional Performing Arts School before beginning her screen career with small film roles in Private Parts (1997), Annie (1999) and Blind Date (2007). Hyland is best known for portraying Haley Dunphy on the ABC sitcom Modern Family, a series that has earned Golden Globe and Emmy recognition. For her work on the show she has received critical acclaim, sharing four Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series with her castmates and earning a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She also appeared in the film Geek Charming (2011).
