The Wonderful World of Disney is an anthology television series produced by Walt Disney Productions, later known as The Walt Disney Company. The series has a long history, with production dating back to 1954. Initially, it aired weekly on one of the Big Three television networks until 1990, with a brief hiatus in 1984-85. The show was broadcast on Sunday for a portion of its initial run. In 1997, the series resumed a regular schedule on the ABC fall schedule, coinciding with Disney's recent purchase of the network. This iteration of the series is part of a larger anthology series that has been produced under several different titles since 1954.
