Fran Ryan (November 29 1916 – January 15 2000) was an American character actress who worked in television and film. She was born in Los Angeles, California, and began performing at age six at Oakland’s Henry Duffy Theatre in Northern California. After three years of study at Stanford University, she entertained troops as a member of the USO during World War II. Ryan’s stage career included comedy, singing and acting performances in California and Chicago. Her television career did not begin until two decades later, when she made her small‑screen debut in a 1966 episode of Batman, followed by a bit part on The Beverly Hillbillies. Over her career she accumulated 113 credited roles before her death at age 83.
