Colin Andrew Firth, born 10 September 1960 in Grayshott, Hampshire, England, is an English actor and producer. He has earned an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards and a Golden Globe Award, and has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2011 he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to drama and was listed among Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. Recognised in the mid‑1980s as part of the “Brit Pack,” Firth gained early prominence with leading roles in A Month in the Country (1987), Tumbledown (1988) and Valmont (1989).
