Amy Lou Adams, born August 20, 1974, is an American actress known for her work in both comedic and dramatic roles. She began her career as a dancer in dinner theatre from 1994 to 1998 and made her film debut in the 1999 dark comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous. Adams has received numerous accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards and six Academy Award nominations. She has also been nominated for seven British Academy Film Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Her early career included guest television appearances and roles in low-budget films before landing her first major role.
