Vietnamese 7-a-side football affirms its position in the region
More than a year ago, the Vietnamese team defeated Ghost Gate FC (Thailand) 3-2 in a match that was as meaningful as the final of the first International 7-a-side Football Tournament at the end of 2022.
On the journey to promote Vietnam’s 7-a-side football “specialty” and determined to affirm its position in the international arena, from January 11 to January 14, VietFootball and Wika Sport Vietnam will organize the World Cup. International 7-a-side football Wika Cup 2024 on the field of Hoang Mai Culture, Information and Sports Center (Hanoi).
In the second time organized to maintain and build a meaningful annual playground for football teams in the Southeast Asia region, the International 7-a-side Wika Cup 2024 (ISC2024) aims to raise the level of football. 7-a-side football in Vietnam and internationally to develop football together, creating sustainable values for the community.
Participating in the International 7-a-side Football Tournament – Wika Cup 2024, there are four teams, including two Vietnamese representatives, Dai Tu Club (champion of the 2023 National 7-a-side Football Tournament), Hieu Hoa Quahaco Club (champion National 7-a-side Football Cup 2023) with Nongpookao x Nongpoothan Club (Thailand), Kickerz Club (Malaysia).

Speaking at the Launching Ceremony of the International 7-a-side Football Tournament – Wika Cup 2024 this morning, Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuan – General Director of VietFootball said: “Over the past ten years, with the efforts of the teams, participating members participation in the tournament and the companionship, support, and creation of the best conditions from the Department of Sports and Sports, VFF, local Departments of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, VTVcab, especially the enthusiastic response and cheers from a large number of fans, the tournament system. 7-a-side football, founded and organized by VietFootball, has resonated and spread throughout the community.

The tournament is also an opportunity for players and teams in Southeast Asia to compete, exchange, and learn to develop together.”

VietFootball General Director Pham Ngoc Tuan also added that the representative from Thailand, Nongpookao x Nongpoothan Club is a very strong team, they have overcome nearly 700 clubs, won the Thai championship to be present in Vietnam to compete.
Representing Malaysia is Kickerz Club which is also very strong. All will bring great challenges to Dai Tu Club and Hieu Hoa Quahaco Club on their journey to keep the Cup in Vietnam.
