The proportion of those opposed to territorial concessions decreased accordingly (from 84% in May to 80% in October and 74% in December.

A poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) on November 29 to December 9 said that in the period from May 2022 to May 2023, the situation was relatively stable, about 8-10% of respondents were willing to make territorial concessions, and the vast majority, 82-87%, were firmly opposed to any concessions.

Since May 2023, the percentage of those willing to cede territory has gradually increased, from 10% in May to 14% in October and 19% in December.

The proportion of those opposed to territorial concessions decreased accordingly (from 84% in May to 80% in October and 74% in December.

Sociologists point out that from May to October 2023, most people living in the south and east of Ukraine accounted for the increase in those willing to make territorial concessions, while the increase from October to December is due to people living in western and central Ukraine.

The proportion of such respondents increased from 9% in October to 20% in December in the West and from 10% to 15% in the Central region.

In the south and east, changes in the proportion of those willing to make concessions are less noticeable, but sociologists still point to some negative trends.

“At the same time, the majority of respondents in all regions (from 68% and 69% in the south and east to 76% and 79% in the west and center) remain opposed to territorial concessions to Russia “, the report on the survey results added.

The survey was conducted from November 29 to December 9. A total of 1,031 respondents aged 18 years or older living in all regions of Ukraine were interviewed by telephone based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. The sample does not include residents of territories temporarily not controlled by Ukrainian authorities before February 24, 2022, and the survey was not conducted among Ukrainians living abroad.

Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of that sample (with probability 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.1) does not exceed 3.4% for the indicators indexes near 50%, 3.0% for indices near 25%, 2.1% for indices near 10% and 1.5% for indices near 5%.

However, sociologists believe that the results are still highly representative and allow for a fairly reliable analysis of public sentiment.
