What is the Jeffrey Epstein List?
In the unsealed papers are the names of about 150 of Epstein’s associates. The documents were filed as part of Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s co-conspirator in his sexual abuse scheme. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting sex trafficking charges.
Giuffre is one of the women who sued Epstein for abusing them at his homes in Florida, New York, the US Virgin Islands and New Mexico. She said she was pressured to have sex with men who were in Epstein’s social orbit.
Other documents were sealed by the court from 2019 to 2022.
Last month, a judge listed in a 50-page document about 180 people – under pseudonyms – ordering their identities to be made public within 14 days of the order. Several individuals have objected to the release of their identities in the case.
The inclusion of a name on the list does not mean there are any charges against that individual.
Prince Andrew
Documents unsealed on Wednesday revealed sexual assault allegations against the British royal family.
Johanna Sjoberg, one of many women who accused Epstein of sexual abuse, said Andrew placed his hand on her breast at Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse in 2001.
This is when he was taking photos with Sjoberg and Giuffre. Maxwell and Epstein were present when this photo was taken. Sjoberg said the photo also includes a puppet with the words “Prince Andrew” on it.
The incident was previously reported by other media and Andrew denied it. The case is part of a previously redacted trove of original documents that reveal some new details about the extent of Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking activities.
Sjoberg was recruited to work for Epstein by Maxwell, who had been his girlfriend in the early 1990s before they became professional collaborators and criminals for nearly three decades.
When Sjoberg was hired as an assistant as a 20-year-old college student, she quickly became a massage therapist and was sexually assaulted while working for Maxwell and Epstein from 2001 to 2006.
Giuffre, now 38, has accused Andrew of sexually abusing her two decades ago when she was 17, an allegation the prince called baseless. The case was resolved in 2022.
According to the documents, Sjoberg said she witnessed Giuffre, then 17, in Epstein’s New York residence with Andrew, Epstein and Maxwell. The doctor also said she believed what Giuffre said about Andrew and Epstein sexually abusing her.
Alan Dershowitz
Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz is famous for his research on US criminal law. The documents related to him include allegations made by an unnamed woman, referred to as Jane Doe #3.
Jane Doe #3 said Epstein “asked” her to have sex with Dershowitz multiple times when she was a minor.
Documents say Dershowitz also played a key role in negotiating an agreement that provided immunity from federal prosecution in the Southern District of Florida not only for Epstein but also for “any of his potential co-conspirators.” Epstein”.
Epstein’s housekeeper, Juan Alessi, testified that Dershowitz often went to Epstein’s Florida mansion for massages.
Another employee of Epstein’s family, Alfredo Rodriquez, said the lawyer would be at Epstein’s residence without his family and with the girls present.
Dershowitz said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday that Jane Doe #3 misidentified him and he denied ever having met the girl. He claimed he was a victim of the “hypocrisy” of the MeToo movement, accusing “radical feminists” of focusing on Epstein and his associates while failing to “condemn Hamas”, the group Palestinian armed forces.
Jean-Luc Brunel
Jean-Luc Brunel is a French model awaiting trial on charges of raping underage girls and then dying by suicide in a Paris prison in 2022.
Giuffre is one of the women who has accused Brunel of sexual abuse. She said Maxwell took her to many places to have sex with Brunel. The documents also said Brunel would exploit underage girls from disadvantaged backgrounds by offering them modeling jobs but would then bring them to the US and “feed them to his friends, especially Epstein”.
According to the documents, Jane Doe #3 accused Epstein of trafficking her to Brunel, a close companion of Epstein. She said she was also forced to watch Brunel, Maxwell and Epstein sexually assault underage girls.
Rolling Stone magazine published a report Tuesday about a recent lawsuit in Los Angeles in which a woman recently accused Brunel of holding hostages at a Canadian estate so she could be raped by multiple men. sexually abused when she was 18 years old.
David Copperfield
Sjoberg testified to meeting American magician David Copperfield at one of Epstein’s homes. She added that she realized he was friends with Epstein. She also recalled a girl at that dinner who she thought looked like she was in high school.
Sjoberg said Copperfield asked if she knew that “girls were paid to find other girls,” referring to Epstein and Maxwell’s recruitment of women as “massage therapists.”
Bill Clinton
Former US President Bill Clinton is also mentioned in court documents.
While Sjoberg said she did not meet Clinton, she testified that Epstein told her, “Clinton likes them young,” apparently referring to girls. Although Giuffre previously mentioned that Clinton and Epstein had a close relationship, she did not accuse the former President of any illegal actions.
Clinton has repeatedly denied any allegations that he was involved in anything illegal and said he had no relationship with Epstein in the several years before the financier’s arrest.
Donald Trump
Former President Donald Trump is also mentioned in the documents but has not been charged with a crime.
Sjoberg mentioned an incident when she left with Epstein, Giuffre and a few others on a plane from Palm Beach, Florida, in 2001.
When the plane couldn’t land in New York due to a storm, they had to land in Atlantic City and go to one of Trump’s casinos. Because Giuffre was underage at the time, Sjoberg was asked if she was allowed to enter the casino.
“I don’t know how old you have to be to legally gamble. I just know she can’t get in because of ID issues, so she and I don’t gamble,” Sjoberg replied.
Stephen Hawking
The late physicist’s name was mentioned in an email sent by Epstein to Maxwell in January 2015. In this email, Epstein asked Maxwell to “distribute the reward” to any friends, family and acquaintances of Giuffre that came forward and denied Giuffre’s allegations, including Hawking’s.
Michael Jackson
Sjoberg said she saw the late singer at Epstein’s residence. When asked if she would massage him, she said no.
There will be more names
Not all documents are sealed. The judge has not set a target date for when all the documents will be made public, but many are expected to be released in the next few days. Lawyers for one individual, referred to as Doe 107, wrote to the judge, arguing that they may face victims in their home country and asking for time to submit grounds so that their names can be preserved. private.
