2 years of calling “complaining” and asking for help
The “exoneration” story that Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Director of the Hanoi Center for DNA Analysis and Genetic Technology still remembers is a case of The customer’s name is Nguyen Van Tuan, working as a teacher.
For 2 years, Ms. Nga continuously received phone calls from a customer saying: “I have been wronged!”. On the phone, he said his life was peaceful when his old friend announced that he had a son. He was stunned and could not accept the truth, so the two argued. Finally, to resolve the conflict, the girl filed an application to court to force him to accept the child.

At the district people’s court, DNA testing between Mr. Tuan and the child was requested. The assessment form is sent to the Institute of Criminal Science – Ministry of Public Security. The results of the assessment were that Mr. Tuan was the child’s father and the court forced him to accept the child and pay child support. Before the court’s decision, Mr. Tuan did not accept it and filed a complaint for retrial and DNA testing.
According to Ms. Nga, Mr. Tuan should learn more about the Hanoi Center for DNA Analysis and Genetic Technology directly contacted Ms. Nga, continuously complaining. The man confirmed to Ms. Nga that if he did not have sex with his old friend, he would not have a child.
“Every day, I come into contact with many friends and colleagues, face neighbors with hundreds of looks and hundreds of gossip from students at school. If I am not exonerated, how can I stand? on the podium,” Mr. Tuan shared with Ms. Nga.
Faced with Mr. Tuan’s sincere words, Ms. Nga made a plan to help him clear his case and do a DNA test to confirm the person with the previous results.
With Ms. Nga’s support, Mr. Tuan filed an appeal to the court not to accept the child and requested to have his DNA re-tested at Ms. Nga’s center. The district People’s Court accepted his appeal and sent the decision to request DNA testing to the center.
Misplaced trust
Ms. Nga said that because his friend had accused him of not having children with her, he did not trust anyone. He was worried and suspected that the test sample could be swapped to distort the results. After being analyzed by Ms. Nga, Mr. Tuan finally accepted the plan to take 3 sets of samples under the supervision of the court: One set kept by his old friend, one set kept by the court and one set kept by Mr. Tuan.
All 3 sets will be carefully sealed with the witness of 3 parties. The 2 sets belonging to Court and his old friend were delivered by express delivery to the center, the remaining set was kept by Tuan. That very day, Tuan flew to Hanoi and wanted to get tested immediately, but Ms. Nga refused.

“I helped him clear his name, but I can’t rule out the case that he swapped the samples. Therefore, I have to wait for the other two samples to be sent before I can proceed with the record.” copies and tests,” Ms. Nga said.
Ms. Nga recalled that two sets of test samples were sent to the center that day. Upon receiving the sample, Ms. Nga called Tuan to come. He came with a friend and witnessed 3 samples with completely identical seals. The center made a record and conducted testing. 3 samples were tested by staff at the same time.
Mr. Tuan told Ms. Nga: “The test results of the Institute of Criminal Sciences – Ministry of Public Security only have 9 genes. Please make me a 16-gene system that will reveal the deviations in the remaining 7 genes.”
In the hope of clearing his name, Ms. Nga did the quickest test for Mr. Tuan. The center performed a 16-gene system (an increase of 7 genes) compared to the previous test and in all 7 additional genes, the father and child were completely identical. When she saw the results, Ms. Nga was very sad because she knew she had been deceived and her heart was in the wrong place.
On the day the results came out, Mr. Tuan authorized his friend to receive the results that the child was Tuan’s child. When his friend called to inform him of the results, he was still skeptical. His friend said frankly: “I believe the result is right… I’m so embarrassed because of you. Please withdraw the lawsuit so you don’t waste money and effort.”
Holding the test results in his hand, his friend Mr. Tuan thanked Ms. Nga and said: “My friend must have a problem, please understand.” Ms. Nga shared that she has done charity testing for many cases. The first time I did it, I had an accident such a tease.
DNA testing is the most accurate method today to determine the bloodline between a child and its parents, with an accuracy rate of up to 99.999% or more depending on the number of genes tested. In case of testing from 18-24 loci or more, the accuracy rate is about 99.99999999%. Samples used for DNA testing are quite diverse, including blood, oral mucosa cells, toothbrushes, fingernails, and hair with roots.
