Recently, Pham Nhu Phuong was not on the training list of the Vietnam Gymnastics (TDDC) team in 2024 because she was absent during training. Immediately after that, this 20-year-old athlete decided to retire.
According to Pham Nhu Phuong’s assertion, when the Vietnam Gymnastics team approved the list, she was in the process of taking leave and traveling abroad. Before going abroad, the athlete from Hanoi sent a leave application to his coach at the Hanoi Gymnastics Center. However, this coach forgot to send the application to the Vietnam Gymnastics team.
In addition, Nhu Phuong also denounced the fact that she had to pay 10% of the bonus to the coach at the Hanoi Gymnastics Center every time she won a medal. Along with that is an amount of 30-50% of the hot bonus at tournaments.
As revealed by Dan Tri, Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training – Dang Ha Viet has directed an investigation to clarify this incident.
Pham Nhu Phuong began her passion for gymnastics at the age of 7. During 13 years of pursuing sports, the female athlete has reaped a series of remarkable achievements.
Notably, Nhu Phuong had excellent achievements at the 2018 Asian Youth Gymnastics Championship. There, she won a place to attend the 2018 Youth Olympics. At the 31st SEA Games taking place in May 2022, she participated Competing in 4 competitions: women’s all-around, uneven bars, balance beam and free gymnastics. This is the first time attending a regional sports festival. She excellently brought home 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals for her country’s sports delegation.
At the 2023 national gymnastics championship, Pham Nhu Phuong won 3 individual gold medals, and also contributed to the team event for the Hanoi delegation.
