HAGL sets a shameful record in 2023
The 2-0 victory over Hanoi FC in round 8 of V.League 2023/2024 made many LP Bank HAGL fans believe in the strong return of this team in the near future. However, that is a story for the future, but currently the German team has ended 2023 with the last position on the rankings of Vietnam’s No. 1 club-level tournament.
More worth mentioning, since being promoted to V.League 2003, HAGL has never finished bottom of the table after the first 8 rounds. In addition, in the past 20 years, the Mountain City football team has never been ranked “lowest team” after the end of the calendar year.

In fact, even LPBank HAGL’s current season could become a disaster if this team does not change soon. After 8 rounds of V.League 2023/2024, coach Kiatisak and his team are not only one of the 3 clubs scoring the least goals in the tournament (6 goals), but also the team conceding the most goals (14 goals conceded).
Evaluating the past 8 matches of LPBank HAGL in V.League 2023/2024, Coach Kiatisak admitted that the Mountain City team did not play well, so they fell to the bottom of the table and this is a forgettable time in his career. “Actually, this is the worst period in my coaching career. I am facing difficulties that I have never encountered before. But my goal since coming to HAGL is to help the team win more championships. Once again, as the head coach leading the players, I must be the first to set an example, show resilience, not give up, not hide. That is the motivation for us to continue to stick together. , unite to find a way out,” coach Kiatisak said.
In addition, the former Thailand national team coach also said that LPBank HAGL still has a lot of work to do to improve in the coming time: “The young players understand the tactics, but when operating on the field, they are still confused. Very lucky. HAGL will have time off to continue strengthening. Next, we will actively practice so they can become sharper.”

However, it seems that LPBank HAGL ending 2023 at the bottom of the V.League rankings is not coach Kiatisak’s biggest concern right now. The proof is that as soon as the tournament was paused to make room for the national team to prepare for the 2024 Asian Cup finals, “Thai Zico” took the opportunity to return to Thailand to happily celebrate the New Year with his family.
In the last 3 days, Coach Kiatisak has posted up to 10 statuses on his personal Facebook page about pictures of meetings, happy meals with relatives and family. It seems that this 50-year-old military leader wants to take advantage of the break at the beginning of the new year 2024 to relieve stress before returning to a stressful job in the near future.
As mentioned, the nearly 2-month break until V.League returns after Lunar New Year 2024 is considered a valuable time for LPBank HAGL to reorganize the squad and strengthen its forces. Most likely in phase 2, the Mountain City football team will recruit quality players to aim for more positive results on the field.
