Overview
Underdog is an American animated television series that originated on the NBC network. The show is one of the early Saturday morning cartoons, airing from October 1964 to March 1967. It was sponsored by General Mills and initially aired on NBC until 1966, when it moved to CBS. The series consists of a number of episodes, with a total run of 62 episodes. Underdog, the show's main character, is a heroic alter ego of Shoeshine Boy, who appears in response to certain situations. The series continued to air in syndication until 1973. The show features a villainous character named Simon Bar Sinister, and another named Riff Raff, who frequently victimize the show's female lead, Sweet Polly Purebred. Underdog's speech is characterized by rhymes.
