Overview
The Intruder is a psychological thriller film released in 1999. The film was directed by David Bailey from a screenplay by Jamie Brown, based on the novel of the same name by Brooke Leimas. It stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as a woman who moves to a new city where a film score composer named Nick Girard catches her eye. Following a whirlwind romance, Catherine and Nick marry and she moves into his apartment. Almost instantly, however, something seems amiss. Nick had a previous wife named Stella who was killed, and her presence appears to still reside in the apartment. Furthermore, the neighbours in the building are not welcoming, and Catherine begins to suspect she is being stalked by an unseen force trying to warn her about Nick. As the situation unfolds, Nick starts to doubt Catherine's sanity.
