Overview

The Bullwinkle Show is an American animated television series created by Jay Ward and Bill Scott. The program originally aired from November 19, 1959, to June 27, 1964, appearing on the ABC and NBC networks. The series began on ABC under the title Rocky and His Friends before moving to NBC in 1961 as The Bullwinkle Show. The show functions as a variety program featuring the serialized adventures of its title characters, an anthropomorphic moose named Bullwinkle J. Moose and a flying squirrel named Rocky. These characters originally appeared in a less successful 1950s production titled The Frostbite Falls Review. In their own series, the duo faces recurring adversaries in the form of Russian-like spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale. Beyond the primary narrative, the show includes various supporting segments such as Dudley Do-Right, Peabody's Improbable History, and Fractured Fairy Tales. The voice cast for the production features Bill Scott, June Foray, Paul Frees, and Edward Everett Horton. The series was produced by Jay Ward Productions.
