Overview
The Americans is an American period spy drama television series created by Joe Weisberg for the FX network. The show aired for six seasons between January 30, 2013, and May 30, 2018. Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields served as the showrunners and executive producers for the series. Set during the Cold War in the 1980s, the narrative centers on Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, played by Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys. While they appear to be a normal married couple living in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., they are actually undercover KGB officers. The plot follows the couple as they navigate their double lives, which become further complicated when they discover that their new neighbor, Stan Beeman, is an FBI counterintelligence agent. The cast also includes actors Holly Taylor and Keidrich Sellati. The series explores the challenges faced by the Jennings as they maintain their cover while operating within the United States during a period of heightened international tension.
