Overview

Taggart is a Scottish detective fiction television program created by Glenn Chandler. Produced by STV Studios for the ITV network, the series focuses on a group of detectives investigating crimes within the Greater Glasgow area. The program originally debuted as a miniseries titled Killer, which aired from September 6 to September 20, 1983. Following the success of this initial project, a full series was commissioned, running from July 2, 1985, until November 7, 2010. The narrative primarily follows the Maryhill CID of the Strathclyde Police, though storylines have expanded to include other locations. In later series, the detective team operated out of a fictional police station located on John Street, situated across from the City Chambers. Throughout the production, the detectives investigate various murders against the backdrop of Glasgow. The series features recurring character dynamics, such as the professional conflict between Taggart and Livingstone, who often displayed different approaches to police work.
