Overview

NieR:Automata Ver1.1a is a 2023 Japanese anime television series based on the 2017 action role-playing game NieR: Automata. Set in the distant future, the story takes place after Earth has been invaded by alien forces and their mechanical creations, pushing humanity to near extinction. Survivors flee to the moon and deploy android soldiers in an effort to reclaim Earth. The war reaches a standstill, prompting the creation of the YoRHa unit, an elite group of androids. The series follows characters 2B and 9S as they carry out missions on Earth and uncover deeper truths about their world. Directed by Ryōji Masuyama and co-written by Masuyama and Yoko Taro, the anime is produced by A-1 Pictures with music by studio Monaca.
