Overview
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is a 1995 Japanese mecha anime television series created by Sunrise. Directed by Masashi Ikeda and written by Katsuyuki Sumizawa, the series is also known in Japan as New Mobile Report Gundam Wing. The story is set in the year After Colony 195, a time when mankind has moved into space to live on giant orbiting colonies known as Sides. The plot follows a group of revolutionaries who oppose the unjust and cruel rule of the Earth Government. To fight for independence, they construct five robotic weapons called Gundams. These weapons are piloted by five young men who descend to Earth to execute Operation Meteor, a mission against the United Earth Sphere Alliance. The narrative follows the pilots as they bring their war to the planet, with characters such as Heero Yuy and Relena Darlian becoming involved in the conflict. The series began its original broadcast in Japan on April 7, 1995, and later premiered in English on Cartoon Network on March 6, 2000.
