Overview

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is a 2002 Japanese anime television series created by Sunrise and directed by Mitsuo Fukuda. As the ninth installment in the Gundam franchise, the program aired in Japan on JNN television stations from October 5, 2002, to September 27, 2003. The series consists of 48 episodes and is set in a future calendar era known as the Cosmic Era. The narrative explores a conflict between two subspecies of humanity: Naturals, who reside on Earth, and Coordinators, who are genetically enhanced humans living in orbital colonies called PLANTs. Tensions between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT escalated into war following the Bloody Valentine tragedy. The story follows a young Coordinator named Kira Yamato who is drawn into this interplanetary conflict after a neutral space colony, which was secretly developing mobile suits for the Earth Alliance, is attacked by ZAFT military forces. Kira and his friends find themselves involved in the war as they navigate the discovery of advanced combat mecha within their colony.
