Mazinger Z is a Japanese super‑robot series that originated as a manga written and illustrated by Go Nagai. The initial manga run appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from October 1972 through August 1973, after which it continued in Kodansha’s TV Magazine from October 1973 to September 1974. While the manga was being published, a parallel version drawn by Gosaku Ota was produced and released during the same period as the television adaptation. The anime television series aired on Fuji TV beginning in December 1972 and concluded in September 1974, delivering action‑adventure, animation, and science‑fiction elements to its audience. In the United States the series was briefly marketed under the title Tranzor Z. The show’s broadcast spanned nearly two years and coincided with the manga’s publication schedule, helping to establish Mazinger Z as an early and influential example
