UFO Robot Grendizer is a Japanese animated television series created by Go Nagai. The show follows Duke Fleed, a young prince from the destroyed planet Fleed, who was raised on Earth by Dr. Umon after fleeing his homeland. When forces from the planet Vega, led by King Vega, threaten to conquer Earth, Duke must defend his new home using the powerful robot Grendizer. Alongside his friends Koji and Hikaru, and later his sister Maria Grace, Duke engages in battle against the invading army. The series originally aired from 1975 to 1977 and became part of the Mazinger franchise. It was produced by Toei Animation in collaboration with Dynamic Planning. The show has since been known by various international titles including Goldrake and Grandizer.
