In season five, episode twenty-four of House, titled Both Sides Now, the team and Dr. Gregory House are intrigued by a man named Scott. Scott has a unique condition where his left brain and right brain operate independently, resulting in two distinct personalities and leaving him with no control over some of his actions. As the two sides of Scott's brain struggle for dominance, his warring personalities make it increasingly difficult for the medical team to determine the underlying cause of his problem. To get Scott to cooperate with necessary testing, the team is forced to use unusual methods. Meanwhile, a secondary plot develops when House refuses to make an appearance in the clinic. In response to this refusal, Cuddy takes an unconventional approach to force House to make up the required time with a particular patient. The episode focuses on these professional and diagnostic challenges faced by House and his colleagues.
