Overview
The 2021 television series CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD is part of a Japanese multimedia franchise that includes multiple anime television series and an official trading card game. The series follows the story of Yu-yu Kondo, a third-year middle school student living in Kanazawa city of the country of Kaga. Yu-yu often gets caught up in his sister's hobbies due to his inability to reject requests. He meets Megumi Okura, who invites him to the Night Amusement Park Wonder Hill, where her friends gather, including members of the Vanguard-centric group Team Blackout. At the amusement park, Yu-yu encounters Vanguard and becomes drawn to its appeal and the new world and friends he discovers. The franchise was jointly created by several individuals, including Akira Itō, Satoshi Nakamura, Mitsuhisa Tamura, and Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani. The series is also known as Cardfight!! Vanguard in Japanese, with the title written as Kādofaito!! Vangādo.
