Cardfight!! Vanguard is a Japanese multimedia franchise that centers on a popular trading card game of the same name. The series follows Aichi Sendou, a timid third-year middle school student who struggles with his outlook on life. His perspective shifts after he meets a high schooler named Toshiki Kai, who introduces him to the game of Vanguard. The game features a unique system where participants imagine themselves battling on a planet called Clay. Aichi possesses a specific card known as Blaster Blade, which he received during his childhood and which serves as a source of personal strength. As Aichi begins to play the game, he finds himself drawn into the world of Vanguard, which has gained international popularity. The franchise was jointly created by Akira Itou, Satoshi Nakamura, and Mitsuhisa Tamura, with the trading card game itself published by Bushiroad. The property has since expanded into a long-running series with a history spanning over a decade, supported by an official card database and various community events.
