The city's treasurer, Enoch Nucky Thompson, is a key figure in the series, being equal parts politician and gangster. The series was created by Terence Winter and features a cast including Steve Buscemi, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Shannon, and Shea Whigham. Atlantic City is home to one of the world's longest and busiest boardwalks, which has been in existence since 1870.
