Barnaby Jones is a television detective series that aired on CBS from January 28, 1973, until April 3, 1980. The program began its broadcast run as a midseason replacement. The show features Buddy Ebsen and Lee Meriwether, who portray a father-in-law and daughter-in-law duo operating a private detective firm based in Los Angeles. During the series premiere, titled Requiem for a Son, William Conrad made a guest appearance as the character Frank Cannon from the series Cannon. The two programs later participated in a two-part crossover event in 1975, which was titled The Deadly Conspiracy. The series focuses on the investigative work conducted by the central characters as they manage their private practice.
