Biography
Dabney Wharton Coleman was an American actor who lived from January 3, 1932, to May 16, 2024. Throughout a career spanning over six decades and nearly 180 acting credits, he became known for his sharp comedic timing and his portrayals of egomaniacal, morally ambiguous, or thuggish characters. His notable film appearances include 9 to 5, On Golden Pond, Tootsie, WarGames, Cloak and Dagger, The Muppets Take Manhattan, The Beverly Hillbillies, You've Got Mail, Inspector Gadget, Recess: School's Out, Moonlight Mile, Rules Don't Apply, and The Towering Inferno. His television work included roles in Buffalo Bill, The Slap Maxwell Story, The Guardian, Recess, Boardwalk Empire, and Yellowstone. He also appeared in the series That Girl.
