This facility serves as the primary location for the personal and professional lives of the characters. The original plot focused on the ambitions of Diana Sommer, who pursued a career as a world-class ice skater. She was signed to the center by Julian Herzog, a man with whom she developed a romantic relationship. The center is managed by the Steinkamp family. Diana and Julian eventually became a couple, but their story concluded when Julian died of a brain hemorrhage during their wedding in November 2007. Diana remained in Essen until January 2009, at which point she departed to join a skating center in Halle. The series, which features a runtime of approximately 25 minutes, continues to air on weekday evenings.
