Yuya Uchida was a Japanese singer, record producer, and actor whose career spanned six decades. Born in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, Japan on November 17, 1939, he became a major figure in Japanese popular music. As an actor, he appeared in numerous films, including Nagisa Oshima's Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, and starred in the American film Black Rain.
