Victor Sen Yung, also known by birth names Victor Cheung Young or Sen Yew Cheung, was an American character actor born in San Francisco, California on October 18, 1915. He was best known for playing Jimmy Chan in the Charlie Chan films and Hop Sing in the Western series Bonanza. His parents were Gum Yung Sen and his first wife, immigrants from China. Following his mother's death during the flu epidemic of 1919 and his father's remarriage in 1922, he grew up in a household with his stepmother, Lovi Shee, and his younger sister, Rosemary. His body was discovered on November 9, 1980, with sources recording his day of death as November 1, 1980. During his career, he accumulated 138 known acting credits.
