Stephen Arthur Frears is an English director and producer born on June 20, 1941, in Leicester, England, United Kingdom. He has directed numerous acclaimed films since the early 1980s, including My Beautiful Laundrette, Dangerous Liaisons, The Grifters, High Fidelity, The Queen, Philomena, Florence Foster Jenkins, and Victoria and Abdul. Frears has received two nominations for the Academy Award for Best Director. He is also known for his work on various television programs, including Fail Safe, The Deal, Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight, A Very English Scandal, State of the Union, and Quiz, and has received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
