Simon Richard Baker, also known as Simon R. Baker and Simon Barker, is an Aboriginal Canadian actor of Cree, Haida, and Squamish descent. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on March 30, 1986, he began acting at the age of nine with a starring role in Once in a Blue Moon. He gained early recognition as a lead in the television series North of Sixty. His credits span film and television productions, including Into the West, Buffalo Dreams, The Missing, Smoke Signals, The Sweet Hereafter, Shanghai Noon, I, Robot, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre's Actors Conservatory, he has also hosted the CTV series First Story and the documentary series Native P.
