Biography

Shinji Higuchi is a Japanese film director, storyboard artist, and special effects specialist. Recognized as one of the country's leading experts in special effects, he frequently contributes to animation projects. Higuchi is a founding member of the studio Gainax, having established the company alongside Hideaki Anno, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, and Takami Akai. He achieved professional recognition for his contributions to the special effects in the Gamera trilogy directed by Shusuke Kaneko. Throughout his career, Higuchi has maintained a consistent professional partnership with Hideaki Anno, collaborating with him on various anime and tokusatsu productions.
