Rupert William Anthony Friend is an English actor born in October 1981 in Oxfordshire, England, United Kingdom. He first gained recognition for his roles in The Libertine and Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont, which won him awards for best newcomer. His film credits include portraying George Wickham in Pride and Prejudice, Lieutenant Kurt Kotler in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Albert, Prince Consort in The Young Victoria, psychologist Oliver Baumer in Starred Up, Vasily Stalin in The Death of Stalin, and Theo van Gogh in At Eternity's Gate. On television, he portrayed CIA operative Peter Quinn in the political thriller series Homeland and Ernest Donovan in the series Strange Angel.
