In film, his acting credits include The Woodlanders, Dangerous Beauty, Dark City, A Knight's Tale, The Illusionist, Tristan and Isolde, and Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence. On television, his acting work includes starring roles in the 2010 mini-series The Pillars of the Earth, the BBC adaptation of George Eliot's Middlemarch as the hero Will Ladislaw, the lead role in the 2003 production Charles II: The Power and The Passion, and the CBS drama Eleventh Hour. On stage, his acting credits include originating the roles of Septimus Hodge and Jan in Tom Stoppard's plays Arcadia and Rock 'n' Roll, respectively.
