Clohessy played Correctional Officer Sean Murphy on the HBO drama Oz and was a cast member in the final season of Hill Street Blues. He also appeared in the ABC daytime dramas All My Children and Guiding Light, as well as the short-lived Fox show New Amsterdam. Additionally, he played a role in the film Across the Universe and had recurring roles in other television shows. Clohessy was a series regular in the short-lived shows Laurie Hill and played the role of Mike in the Broadway Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Pal Joey.
