Monsters 1988

Overview

Monsters is an American syndicated horror anthology television series that originally aired from October 22, 1988, to April 26, 1991. The program was created by Richard P. Rubinstein and Mitchell Galin, with Rubinstein serving as a producer alongside his company, Laurel Entertainment. The series grew out of the previous project Tales from the Darkside and later aired in reruns on the Sci-Fi Channel during the 1990s. The premise of the show features a family of monsters who watch a different horror story on their television each week. Each episode presents a separate tale, often incorporating cautionary themes, dark humor, and irony. While the series shares producers with Tales from the Darkside, it focused more strictly on the horror genre rather than science fiction or fantasy. As the title suggests, every installment centers on a different creature, ranging from mutated, weapon-wielding lab rats to the animatronic puppet of a fictional children's television program. The series featured various actors, including John Bolger, Pamela Dean Kelly, Michael J. Anderson, and Carlos Lauchu.
