Rhys Montague Darby is a New Zealand actor and comedian who was born on March 21, 1974. Before beginning his performing career, he served in the New Zealand army. In 1996, he formed the comedy duo Rhysently Granted alongside Grant Lobban. His solo stand-up routines feature vibrant storytelling, mime, and sound effects, earning him recognition and two Billy T Award nominations. His international breakthrough occurred in 2007 when he portrayed Murray Hewitt in the HBO comedy series Flight of the Conchords. He has also appeared in films such as Yes Man, What We Do in the Shadows, and Jumanji. In 2011, Darby and his family relocated to the United States for a role in the CBS sitcom How to Be a Gentleman, and his second DVD, It's Rhys Darby Night!, was released in New Zealand on December 12, 2011.
