Rachel Anne McAdams, born November 17, 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian actress known for her work in film, television, and theater. She graduated from York University in 2001 with a BFA in theatre. McAdams made her Hollywood debut in the 2002 comedy The Hot Chick. She gained widespread recognition in 2004 for her roles in the romantic drama The Notebook and the comedy Mean Girls. Her performances have earned her nominations for an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and a Tony Award. In 2026, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her films have collectively grossed over $3.4 billion worldwide.
