Olivia de Havilland was a British-American actress born in Tokyo, Japan. She began her acting career in 1935 and continued until 1988, appearing in 49 feature films. De Havilland's early screen performances include The Adventures of Robin Hood and Gone with the Wind. She is also known for her later award-winning performances in To Each His Own, The Snake Pit, and The Heiress. De Havilland was raised in California by her mother, a former stage actress, along with her younger sister Joan Fontaine.
