Noah Strausser Speer Wyle, born June 4, 1971, is an American actor, producer, director, and writer. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Dr. John Carter on the NBC medical drama ER, which aired from 1994 to 2005. For this role, he received five consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations and three consecutive Golden Globe Award nominations. Wyle also starred as Dr. Michael Robinavitch in the HBO series The Pitt, beginning in 2025. Born in Hollywood, California, he is the son of an orthopedic head nurse and an entrepreneur. Wyle has also worked as a television director and producer.
