Hanai initially considered joining the Takarazuka Revue, but later became interested in voice acting after watching the TV anime K-ON!. She studied acting at the International Media Gakuin and graduated before joining IAM Agency. Hanai made her debut in 2017 as Sassa Kurasaki in the TV anime Armed.
