Michael McElhatton is an Irish actor and writer born on 12 September 1963. He is best known for his portrayal of Roose Bolton in the HBO television series Game of Thrones. McElhatton first appeared in the series as a guest star during its second season. He continued to portray the character until the sixth season. Beginning with the fifth season, he was promoted to a regular cast member.
