He attended Hesketh Fletcher high school in Atherton and furthered his education at Winstanley College in Wigan. At age 15, he played a lead role in a school play, which inspired him to pursue acting as a career. He later attended drama classes in Manchester. His television and film credits include See No Evil: The Moors Murders in 2006, Looking for Eric in 2009, The Musketeers in 2016, Cleaning Up in 2019, Domina in 2021, and The Rising in 2022.
