Raised in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles, she is married to actor Brian Benben, whom she met on the set of the miniseries The Gangster Chronicles. The couple married in 1982 and have one daughter, May Theodora. In addition to her professional career, Stowe has spent time living on a ranch in Texas, choosing to step back from Hollywood at various points to focus on her family life.
