John Francis Bongiovi Jr., known professionally as Jon Bon Jovi, is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor born on March 2, 1962, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He is best known as the founder and frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi, formed in 1983, with whom he has released fifteen studio albums in addition to two solo albums. In the 1990s, he began an acting career, starring in the films Moonlight and Valentino and U-571, and making television appearances on Sex and the City, Ally McBeal, and The West Wing. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009 and ranked number 50 on Billboard magazine's Power 100 list in 2012.
