Robert Anthony De Niro is an American actor, director, film producer, and restaurateur born on August 17, 1943, in Manhattan, New York City. He studied acting at HB Studio, the Stella Adler Conservatory, and Lee Strasberg’s school. Known for his portrayals of violent and abrasive characters in films such as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, he later gained recognition for his comic depictions of cranky men. De Niro has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. His honors include the AFI Life Achievement Award, the Kennedy Center Honors, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
